         Biography

Anet was born in Cannes and grew up in Nice, where she spent the first part of her life.

She then lived in Toulouse for 12 years, and came back to Nice in 2000, where she started devoting herself to her lifelong passion: painting.

Those years spent in the South West of France, a place infused with Spanish culture, left Anet with impressions of strong images, and of colours distinctive from those of her native Cote d'Azur.

Upon her return to Nice, she came across an artists workshop, set up in a former 19th Century ballroom.

She shared this unique space with other painters, sculptors and aquarellists, under the guidance of Marc Lavalle, a former Fine Arts professor.

It was within the heart of this workshop that she flourished, amongst a friendly and inspiring atmosphere.

She happily re-discovered various techniques, particularly marouflage, which she adopted as her main painting support.

She selects old papers, newspapers, calligraphics, manuscript paper, etc. , to use as a rich background to her canvasses.

She then draws with charcoal and paints with oils.

Her choice colours are grey, white, sepia, fawn, blue and red. She works on them transparently, plays with shadows and light to evoke dream and softness.

Her favourite themes are real life scenes, inspired by old or contemporary photographs, and so she collects images of faraway landscapes, of children, of secluded interiors.

After working on portraits for some time, Anet chose not to draw faces anymore; from then on, only the stands of the characters, and the atmosphere of the places matter.

Anet started showing her work in Nice, at the end of 2000. She was then invited to various shows in France and Europe. She has a permanent exhibition at the "Fabrice Diomart"1 gallerie in Paris, and in the "Gallerie Dung Bui"2 in Saint Paul de Vence.

Every year, a two-week exhibition is dedicated to her in the Gallerie des Dominicains3 in Nice.
